Stages of Building a House
- Excavation - a hole is dug
- Footings - the framework for home's foundation is created
- Concrete is poured to form the basement
- Backfilling - the area around the newly poured basement is filled
- Framing - the wooden structure of the walls and roof is created
- Roof is shingled
- Mechanical rough ins - heating, plumbing (including fixtures), and electrical - are installed
- Exterior finishes, e.g. brick, siding, stone, and interior drywall are completed
- Finishes - e.g. flooring, painting, cabinetry, trim, etc.
- Pre-delivery inspection (PDI) by the customer, with a builder representative in attendance. For more detailed information and advice about the PDI, please click here.
Stages of Building a Mid-Rise/High-Rise:
- Excavation
- Footings/foundation
- Foundation
- Underground parking
- Superstructure (steel and concrete framing)
- Exterior and interior
- Finishes - e.g. flooring, painting, cabinetry, trim, etc.
- Final inspection by customer
